Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute
The Challenge
Healthcare organizations are increasingly expected to provide patients with convenient and secure access to digital services. For Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute, there was an opportunity to improve the way patients interacted with the hospital for appointment-related services while continuing to work with its existing Hospital Information System.
A significant dependency on manual appointment processes meant that patients had limited digital access and the hospital had an opportunity to streamline the overall appointment experience.
CNCI needed a solution that could provide a more accessible digital interface for patients while remaining connected to its existing hospital systems.
The CLUDO Approach
CLUDO designed and deployed a patient-centric healthcare portal on AWS, with a focus on creating a secure and accessible digital channel for patients.
Rather than replacing the hospital’s existing HIS, the solution was integrated with the existing system, allowing CNCI to extend its digital capabilities while continuing to leverage its established healthcare infrastructure.
The solution was deployed using Amazon EC2, providing the cloud infrastructure required to host the portal, while AWS WAF was implemented to provide an additional layer of protection for the web application.
This approach enabled CNCI to move toward a more digitally connected patient experience while maintaining alignment with its existing hospital environment.
The Solution
The AWS-powered portal brought together three key components:
Patient-Centric Portal
A digital interface designed to improve patient access to hospital appointment-related services.
AWS Cloud Infrastructure
The portal was deployed on Amazon EC2, providing the underlying cloud environment for the application.
Secure Web Access
AWS WAF was implemented to help protect the web application and support secure digital access.
The portal was also integrated with CNCI’s existing Hospital Information System, creating a connected experience between the new digital platform and the hospital’s existing infrastructure.
The Impact
The implementation delivered a measurable improvement in the appointment process.
60–70%
Reduction in dependency on manual appointment processes
Beyond this measurable improvement, the solution helped CNCI strengthen its digital patient access by providing a more convenient and secure channel for interacting with hospital services.
The project demonstrates how AWS cloud technology, combined with thoughtful integration with existing healthcare systems, can help healthcare organizations modernize their digital services without requiring a complete replacement of their existing infrastructure.
| Technology | Purpose |
| Amazon EC2 | Cloud infrastructure for hosting the patient-centric portal |
| AWS WAF | Web application protection and secure access |
| Hospital Information System | Integration with CNCI’s existing healthcare infrastructure |
From Manual Processes to Digital Patient Access
The CNCI engagement demonstrates CLUDO’s approach to healthcare cloud modernization: understand the existing environment, build around the organization’s requirements, integrate with established systems, and use AWS to create secure and scalable digital solutions.
